New Old Car

Forgot to mention that I’ve got a new 2nd-hand before Christmas.

Sorta like a Christmas present to 詹占 and me from ourselves.

After struggling with one car for all these years, we finally gave in.

The tipping point is 小J. With only one car, unless I take transit, I will have to drive everyone to work and daycare before I head to work and have to be back early enough to pick everyone up before going home.

Also, in church nights, ppl at church always insists to drive me home. Totally out of their way but they insist. There have been a few episodes where I sneaked away but they came after me and ended up 拉拉扯扯 on the street.

It’s so weird that part of the reason to buy a car is such that I don’t want ppl to give me free rides anymore.

So, got this piece of old metal. 2003 Honda Civic. Black.

What I really wanted is Ford Fiesta or a Scion IQ. Unfortunately, these models are relatively new and therefore, I can’t find anything that’s affordable.

Tho the Civic isn’t my ‘dream 2nd hand’ car, I am enjoying it. I feel like such a grown up now that I own a car.

Winter Olympics

Due to the fact that I sneaked away to jog on the track mill around lunch hour twice a week recently, I actually ended up watching more winter Olympics this year than I normally would.

As a HK-born person, I have always rooted for China during Olympics time (because there’s not many HK athletes to root for). But now I am also a Canadian, so I have another country that deserves my loyalty.

Luckily this is Winter Olympics, I haven’t watched anything that has a Chinese and Canadian athlete against each other. Sure, there are events that there’re both Chinese and Canadian competitors but they were not in the same heat, at least they weren’t for the the races that I’ve watched. So I could cheer for both.

It’s nice that the Chinese are stronger for summer events while the Canadians are stronger for winter events. I am not sure which country I would go for if they are directly competing against each other.

A dilemma of duel-citizenship.

Another note on the Olympics. I am never really a huge fan of figure skating. I mean, I do admire how the skaters can move with such ease on ice, going backwards and forwards and all the spinning and jumping. And I will never understand how come they don’t get dizzy from all those spinning. But still, not a big fan. But I happened to catch the men’s freestyle figure skate award ceremony (or what was it called? Flower ceremony cos they were only presented with the bouquet right after the competition). Anyway, what I wanted to say is that have you seen the Japanese guy?!?!?

He looks like straight from those manga comic books! I seriously wonder if he has undergone plastic surgery!!

小Ｊ超多嘢講，句子的組織能力亦強了很多，雖然仍然唔少字講得唔好。

Sometimes, he will tell complicated stories in the car:

“Sharp teeth in microwave. Very sharp. Ya. Ya.  So, be very careful because it is dangerous. It’s dark in there. Can’t see anything.”

“First, go up the ladder. And then turn on the light. Press the button. And then…”

They sort of makes sense but we have no idea what he’s talking about. XD

We have also recently passed through the phase of “I need”, “I need'”. Everything is need but really should be want. And he said it with such urgency that really sounds like he needs those items or to do certain things.

It then changed to “I want” for a couple of days. And this week, all of a sudden, everything switched to “Can I …?”

“Can I see it?”
”Can I cook?”
”Can I have it?”
”Can I get more?”

It’s nice when he can speak so nicely.

很久不寫

這陣子很忙的呀，忙的都沒時間寫了。

工作上，是在前老細走前趕起哂Ｄ嘢；教會上，redesigned 既 website 終於開幕，同時間 Sunday School 轉 program, 很多濕星嘢要搞，再加上一月尾有個退修營，二月頭青年部又有個 Holy Spirit Weekend retreat；真係跳樓都唔掂。前幾日發夢的都不斷是兒童部的東西，腦袋真的要休息休息。

呀，還有在月頭的時候又很努力的在煲 My盛Lady，所以睡眠的時間加質素都很差。

慶幸上年年尾買了車，commute 的時間大大減少同 flexible, 壓力降低不少。

這個星期終於都可以抖抖氣，雖然抖氣的代價是公司沒什工作做，代表著星期尾埋單的時候又不知可以 charge d 時間去邊度，不過唔理咁多住嘞今日，休息一下先。

尤其是呀，呢兩日小J晚晚賴濕床舖（都不知搞什麼的，明明已經是著了片的嘛），搞到無瞓好訓，好在呢兩日我都喺佢午睡的時候走咗去昏迷，如果唔係我會死。
