超市蔬果勁包膠

A news I read about the other day. Don’t know how long the link would be active but here it is:
http://hk.news.yahoo.com/%E8%B6%85%E5%B8%82%E8%94%AC%E6%9E%9C%E5%8B%81%E5%8C%85%E8%86%A0-224030712.html

Basically, it talks about how the supermarket packages fruits and vegetables for sale as packages, as opposed to letting them loose and ppl just pick whichever amount they want to buy.

Seriously, not just HK, same problem in 多人多。

但俾個 new 提一提,又真係好唔環保,真係 produces a lot of waste 架喎。

The store manager’s defence is that the wrap/packaging protects the food from getting handled too much by the customers and hence less wastage of food. I guess it’s a sorta valid reason but I am not sure if this alone is a good enough justification for generating all these garbage.

小事化大

So mayor Ford decided not to attend the gay pride parade and related activities. What’s the big deal?

The homo community is slamming him of intolerant, of hurting the city/country’s diverse culture. blah blah blah…

First of all, I have nothing against gay or les. I have frds who are gay or les and I’m perfectly fine being frds with them. I have even been mistaken as a homo every once in a while and I have no problem with it, either.

What bugs me tho, is that these homo communities always victimize themselves, saying that ppl are not accepting them, saying that ppl are discriminating them. They are never satisfied. Sometimes, it feels like their ultimate goal is to have everyone turning into homo before they will shut up.

Ford is not trying to shut down your silly parade, OK? He’s simply not attending. 年中多人多有幾多 cultural/street festivals? Is he supposed to attend every single one of them to show his support? You don’t hear the Chinese (which I’m sure, is more populous than you homo community) complaining that our mayor is not attending their festival. You don’t hear the Chinese say that the mayor is discriminating against the Chinese bcos he’s not going to the festival.

And really, what’s so gd about your parade anyway? Other than bringing whatever amount of tourism money that all the economists are so concerned about (and which I really don’t care), all that catches my attention is that there will, again, be a lot of practically naked ppl walking down the street. It’s more like promoting pervert-ness than anything, if you ask me. And I don’t see how pervert-ness is something to be ‘proud’ of. What kind of message are you trying to send out, especially to those who may not fully understand homo, anyway? That you guys are all pervs and love to walk down the street with as little clothing as possible whenever the law permits? You are stereotyping yourself. So don’t complain when ppl think that you guys are pervs.

Not to say that all the other festivals are better than pride parade. I personally see most of them as greedy business ppl making an excuse to earn money. The pride parade bugs me more bcos I simply dislike the ultra high profile-ness and the seemingly never-ending demand of the homo community.

I don’t love Ford but totally support his decision of not going to the parade. Way to go man! I hope that you stand by your decision and not give in to the pressure of the media.

You’ve Got to be Kidding

NHL final game 7 last night. Apparently, it’s pretty rare. And since VanCan was one of the competing team, ppl went a little crazy here.

Radio channel 680 always interview ppl and ask what they think about some of the current issue. Most of the time I couldn’t care less about what the ppl think cos it seems to me that a lot of the times, the ppl on the street are just dumb. Hardly ever has any inspiring insight into things. Not entirely their fault, the person who formulates the question wasn’t any gd to start with so they always ask dumb questions anyway. I only really listen to that channel for the traffic news.

Anyway, on the way to work yesterday, the radio was interviewing ppl and asked what they think about the NHL final went all the way to the 7th game. A guy said,

“It’s the 2nd best thing that has ever happened in my life, after the birth of my daughter.”

I was like, what the hack??!!?! That was the 2nd best thing in your life, EVER??? You’ve either had a sad sad life or that you were so stupid that you value watching hockey (note: you are just watching, you aren’t even playing…) so much more than other things in life.

And 詹占 later pointed it out, too, that the 2nd best thing that has ever happened to his life ended in the VanCan team losing. Simply pathetic.

Bailout

呢排成日都搭巴士返工放工,間唔中都會睇吓免費的 metro. 唔多唔少都知道多少時事.

Not really that interested in politics and news most of the time. But I do have a few words about the issue of the three car company bailing out and ask the government for an enormous amount of money.

I think that it's totally retarded and that the government should NOT give/lend them any money. It's so unfair to some other businesses. Most of the businesses are suffering from this recession. Why these three companies have the right to get money from the government to "help" them but not that others?

And I hate the fact that they pretty much using "we'll have to close down our plants if we do not receive external financial help" as a threat to the government. I understand that the government is worried that unemployment rate would go way up. But still, really shouldn't help them simply bcos of this.

Every businessman takes risk. And if you bet on the wrong thing and made the wrong decision in investment, who is to blame? Suck it up man! I don't see you guys pouring out ur profits to the government in the good days.

Not that the government should sit and watch the unemployed to suffer. I read on the metro sometimes ago when this whole thing just started that this guy suggested the government to put the money that the auto industry is asking into better use. He suggested that the government could use the money to create jobs that actually helps the community like fixing all those roads that should be fixed way long ago. This create constuction jobs for the unemployed. Those ppl in the auto plants are mostly manual labour anyway. They should be able to fit into the construction industry.

I think this dude has a gd point and it's a gd way to make use of the money and actually help the unemployed and improved the community, instead of helping already rich businessmen to continue to earn a lot of money.

On a kinda related topic, another dude said that we should really make use of this economic disaster to reshape the way the economy works.

I have always thought that this stupid consumerisum and the fact that all the government and ppl are so concerned about economic growth, as if when the economic doesn't grow that year, the government is doing a bad job. The big part of the economy "healthiness" is assessed based on how much ppl are buying and how much were manufactured. So ppl are always encouraged to buy buy buy buy buy and as soon as something gets a little old, we should just throw it away and then continue to buy buy buy buy. Cell phone is such a gd example. How many ppl change their cell phone bcos it's broken and that you can't used it to call ppl anymore?

So stupid, resources are pretty much limited, how can we forever to manufacture so that everyone can buy buy buy buy buy? I'm so glad that the 2nd dude voiced out this point. We really should redefine our economy to that it's a sustainable one.

And all these ppl are always talking about how the government should pour out money to stimulate the economy. I agree that the government should help the ppl that are having problem bcos of the recession, but I don't think it necessarily has to "stimulate the economy" in order to achieve that. Stuff like the other dude suggested is gd. Create jobs in the public service sector where both the unemployed and the general public can benefit from, instead of giving away taxpayer's money to save the auto industry. Take the road example again, it will also help the material industry since developers are likely to build less houses now.

Anyway, I'm just grumbling. It just makes me angry to see those auto companies asking for billions of dollars basically to save their own ass.
